“Women on the Water” Short Film on October 1

October 1 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Join us on October 1 at 10 a.m.,  for a free viewing of the short film “Women on the Water” and a panel discussion at the Chatham Orpheum.  “Women on the Water” (co-created by Tim Briggs and Gabriela Bradt) tells the stories of six women in New Hampshire who have overcome personal and societal challenges to establish themselves in lobstering, oyster farming, tuna fishing, and seafood distribution on their own terms. Discover what independence, determination, and grit look like for women making a name for themselves on the water in the Granite State. A panel discussion with local women who work on the water will follow, with local representatives of the fishing community: Renee Gagne, town of Chatham shellfish constable; Shareen Davis, Co-Founder of Chatham Harvesters; and Kaliope Chute, owner of Mermaids Menu Oyster Farm. This free event is co-hosted by the Barnstable County Cooperative Extension, WHOI Sea Grant, and the Cape Cod Salties Sportfishing Club.
