THE WOODS HOLE FILM FESTIVAL

November 1 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

The Woods Hole Film Festival “Dinner & A Movie” series continues Saturday, November 1, 2025, with the narrative feature MISTURA by Ricardo de Montreuil, Peru, US, 97 mins., Spanish with English subtitles. Set against the rich cultural backdrop of 1960s Lima, “Mistura” tells the compelling story of Norma Piet, a woman in her mid-30s whose life is upended when her husband abruptly abandons her. Left to face the scorn of high society and the burden of personal betrayal, Norma’s world collapses as she grapples with isolation and self-doubt. However, her story takes an unexpected turn when she embarks on a journey of self-discovery through the vibrant and diverse world of Peruvian cuisine. Norma’s evolution begins when she forges an unlikely friendship with Oscar Lara, the Tapia family’s chauffeur. Oscar, an Afro-Peruvian musician who works as a driver to support his son abroad, initially fears for his job when Norma’s husband leaves. However, over time, his sense of obligation transforms into a deeper connection with Norma, and they become partners in both life and business. As they explore Peru’s culinary heritage together, Oscar helps Norma rediscover her identity and appreciate the beauty in the country’s diversity. Their journey takes them through bustling markets, local eateries, and the intimate kitchens of Peru’s finest chefs. With Oscar by her side, Norma learns to embrace the flavors and traditions of her homeland, infusing them into her new culinary ventures. Born in Lima, Peru de Montreuil is a feature film and commercial director currently residing in Los Angeles. In his youth, he studied painting at the Trujillo Fine Arts School and was later trained by the renowned Peruvian painter, Pedro Azabache. De Montreuil graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design with a BA in Graphic Design, an MA in Graphic Design, and a minor in Film and Art History. “Dinner & A Movie” is a program of the Winter/Spring Film Series, twice-monthly in-person screenings of independent film from September 2025 through June 2026.
