Request for Mooring Budget

The Mooring Operations, Engineering and Field Support Group will work with scientific investigators to provide a budget for mooring services work. It may be beneficial to meet with Rick Trask or John Kemp to discuss specific mooring needs and time schedules before requesting a cost estimate.

Prior to preparing a budget, it is helpful to provide the following information:

• Name of Principal Investigator(s) and affiliation
• Proposed funding source
• Proposal periods
• Proposal title
• Proposed deployment - turnaround - recovery schedule
• Deployment location(s)
• Anticipated ports
• Cruise support personnel required
• Cruise length
  
• Mooring description
• Surface or subsurface
• Number of moorings
• Water depths
• Instrumentation types and desired measurement depths
• Anticipated current profile
• Shipping information - include in mooring budget?  Ocean?  Air?
  
• Date budget is required
  
• Submission deadline
  

Mooring designs can be tailored to the user’s needs, drawing on a wide range of designs and innovations, all with proven success. Complete fabrication with an emphasis on quality and accuracy will follow, accessing an extensive inventory of wire, synthetics, hardware and buoyancy.
