Robert Weller, PhD, is a senior scientist and chair of the
Physical Oceanography Department at the Woods Hole Oceanographic
Institution. From 1998 to the present, he has served as director of the
Cooperative Institute for Climate and Ocean Research. From 2004-2006,
he served as director of the WHOI Center for Ocean, Seafloor, and
