Group Visits
Woods Hole is home to several ocean-related research institutions, among
them are the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI), the Marine Biological
Laboratory, and the National Marine Fisheries Service, which is part of the
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Each year, thousands of students
and special interest groups come to Woods Hole to learn first-hand about the
ongoing work in this hub of marine research.
The WHOI Exhibit Center provides a window into the research conducted at
the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. We will help groups of 10 or more
arrange a visit to the Center and provide information packets and maps in
advance of your visit. We can also make suggestions on how to coordinate your
visit to the Exhibit Center with trips to other Woods Hole-based research
institutions.
Presentations at the Exhibit Center
Groups visiting the WHOI Exhibit Center can enhance their visit with a presentation
by a WHOI docent. Group presentations orient visitors to what they will see
and learn about in the Exhibit Center and provide an overview of the work
conducted at WHOI, from marine biology to ocean engineering.
Presentations run approximately 20 minutes and are highly recommended for
visiting groups. After the presentation, the WHOI docent will be available
to answer questions as your group views the exhibits in the Exhibit Center.
