WHOI oceanographer Jim Ledwell has been selected as the winner of the 2007 Alexander Agassiz Medal, awarded by the U.S. National Academy of Sciences.

It All Adds Up

WHOI oceanographer Jim Ledwell has been selected as the winner of the2007 Alexander Agassiz Medal, awarded by the U.S. National Academy ofSciences. Ledwell, a senior scientist in the Department of AppliedOcean Physics and Engineering, specializes in the use of chemicaltracersto observe currents in the ocean. Established in 1913, theAgassiz Medal is awarded to an individual scientistfor original and fundamental contributions to oceanography. The medalwill be officially presented at an April 29 ceremony inWashington, DC. Past WHOI recipients of the Agassiz Medal include HenryBigelow, Columbus Iselin, Alfred Redfield, Fritz Fuglister, JohnSteele, and Henry Stommel.
