This award is presented at the annual WHOI Employee Recognition Day. The plaque and accompanying monetary award are derived from donations and fundraising within WHOI. Further tax-deductible contributions can be made by contacting the Development Office. Nomination Guidelines Your written documentation will serve as the only source of information used by the Selection Committee to choose the award winner, so please be as specific in your responses as possible. Try to provide specific examples of how the candidate has demonstrated each of the four criteria listed above. Please do not include recommendations from people outside of WHOI, and please limit your evaluation letter to two pages. Beginning with the 1995 award, nominations are being carried forward for two years. Multiple and repeat nominations are also appropriate and encouraged. » View the Nomination Form Past Winners The Linda Morse-Porteous Award was established in 1991 by John Porteous. Linda Morse-Porteous was a research assistant in the Biology Department at WHOI from 1971 to 1991. This is an annual memorial award to recognize a female technician (graded or technical staff) for her leadership, dedication to and quality of work, abilities as a role model and/or mentor for junior women, and involvement in the WHOI community. Nominations are by employees and the award is presented at the Employee Recognition Day event in the fall.
