Richard A. Kerr
Richard A. Kerr has covered the Earth and planetary sciences (and a bit of paleontology) since 1977 at Science. He went there from the University of Rhode Island a week after successfully defending his dissertation on the humics in seawater. The frustrations of trying to understand such gunk were enough to drive him into journalism, where the breadth of an education in oceanography has served him well.
