The Little Ship that Could

On November 11, 2011, R/V Oceanus returned to the WHOI dock after its final research cruise. The ship is owned by the National Science Foundation and was operated by WHOI under the University National Oceanograhic Laboratory System for the benefit of the entire oceanographic community. Known for its durability and seaworthiness and the can-do spirit of its crew, Oceanus is being retired after 36 years and nearly 500 missions.
