The Summer Student Fellowship Program brings undergraduates to WHOI to work with scientists in a lab and try out oceanographic research. During their time on campus the students take a daylong trip on R/V Tioga for an introduction to oceanographic tools and techniques in local waters. The 2011 Fellows assembled on Tioga’s deck with their four instructors, all of whom have long oceanographic experience: second from left, George Hampson; fourth from left, Hovey Clifford; third from right, Bruce Tripp; and far right, Jim Doutt.(Photo by Katherine Spencer Joyce, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution)
