Fancy Seeing You Here
February 25, 2013On any given day, WHOI’s research vessels are more likely to be in different oceans than in the same port. But this was one of those rare days. On June 2, 2009, in the port of San Diego, Kent Sheasley, captain of the R/V Knorr, looked aft to see R/V Atlantis. Soon after, Atlantis steamed up to the Juan de Fuca Ridge off Washington State to explore seafloor vents with the submersible Alvin while Knorr headed farther north to Dutch Harbor, Alaska.
