Blakely Elementary School serves students in kindergarten through fourth grade. The student population is 430. In addition to the traditional course work, our school offers students a wide variety of programs ranging from outdoor education, Math Olympiad, Accelerated Reader, and multicultural education, to counseling and support services for students with diverse needs. Additionally, all students participate in a specialist instructional program that includes: Art, Music, PE and Library/Media. Caring adults nurture each student, working to inspire and motivate them to become responsible learners and confident children.
The Blakely community is committed to carrying out the Bainbridge Island School District Vision 2010, which is a long-range plan for Bainbridge Schools. Its purposes are several--to inspire a vision of the future, to guide our thinking and planning, and to remain flexible and responsive to unanticipated opportunities and challenges.
The high level of parent and community participation at Blakely supports this commitment. Parents routinely chaperone field trips, attend school assemblies, assist teachers in the classrooms, and actively plan and support school enrichment programs. Parents and other community members serve as art docents, guest authors, nature walk facilitators, playground supervisors, and help in many other ways. This year they logged more than 3,000 hours of volunteer time at our school.
