Update Template

Exercise: Update a template

1. Select a template from the Templates folder in your local site window (classTemplate.dwt) and double-click on it to open it
   Note: Since this is the original template file, you can edit any part of it - nothing is locked. Be careful not to add anything in an editable region that you want to be part of the template.
2. In the left navigation panel, select the words Ongoing Research
3. In the Properties Window, click on the folder icon to the right of the Link input box
4. Browse to your local site root folder if you aren't already there and select the file Research.html that you created in Exercise 4.
   
5. choose File --> Save
6. Since you've already created pages based on this template, Dreamweaver opens the Update Template Files dialog box listing all the files that use the template.
7. click Update to update all files based on the template
   All changes made to the template are automatically applied to all of the pages that are based on the template. (Click Don't Update if you prefer to update the pages later.)
8. click Close
