Naming files
The rules for naming files on PCs and Macs are fairly flexible.
You can use spaces and symbols like $, # and !. Web servers are
not as accomodating, however, so the general rule for filenames
is:
- use only letters (upper or lower case), numbers, the hyphen
(-) and underscore (_) when naming files and folders
- never use spaces in filenames (replace with hypens or underscores)
- remove all punctuation marks from filenames
- remember that filenames on the WHOI server are case-sensitive
(index.html and Index.html are two different files)
