Jim Tynan uses a model of the human-occupied vehicle Alvin in the Ocean Science Discovery Center to inform visitors about the research and engineering that goes on at WHOI. Tynan is a volunteer, one of some 95 active volunteers who also provide invaluable help for the WHOI Visitor Center, Data Library & Archives, Peanut Butter Club, walking tours, and science labs. WHOI hosted its annual volunteer luncheon yesterday to recognize the important contributions they make throughout the institution. To our dedicated volunteers: Thank you, we couldn’t do what we do without you. (Photo by Megan Harrigan, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution)
