Taking the helm

Rob Munier was named the newest vice president for Marine Operations and Facilities at WHOI on March 1. He has spent more than 500 days at sea during a 30-year career in ocean engineering, most recently developing global solutions as managing director for the undersea technology firm Tyco Telecommunications. Munier has responsibility for WHOI deep-submergence vehicles, ocean observing systems, and ships, including Oceanus in the background, as well as the personnel who operate them.
