Physical oceanographer Glen Gawarkiewicz (right), at WHOI’s Iselin Dock test well, is interviewed by CBS News correspondent DeMarco Morgan for a story about hurricanes. Over Labor Day weekend, Gawarkiewicz led a team that quickly deployed a glider on the continental shelf off Martha’s Vineyard in advance of the arrival of post-Tropical Storm Hermine. The instrument gathered data that will help better predict the intensity and evolution of future tropical storms along the U.S. East Coast.
