It’s not a common occurence for all three of WHOI’s research vessels to be docked at the WHOI pier. But on this day, R/V Neil Armstrong (background), R/V Atlantis (foreground right) and the smaller coastal research vessel Tioga were all in Woods Hole. Usually the ships are sailing around the world—taking chemists, biologists, geologists, physical oceanographers, engineers, students, and other researchers from around the nation on expeditions to explore all facets of our planet’s ocean.
