Deep Sea Stamp of Approval

This souvenir envelope, called a dive cover, went to 2,013 meters in the ocean on dive 5,000 of the Human Occupied Vehicle Alvin. Join WHOI, the USPS, and the DSV Alvin Chapter #108 of the Universal Ship Cancellation Society in celebrating Alvin’s major milestone 5,000th dive with a dazzling blue pictorial postmark. On Friday, Dec. 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Ocean Science Discovery Center, 15 School Street, Woods Hole. Bring your prepared, stamped envelopes or postcards to receive this one-of-a-kind postmark designed by WHOI Graphics’ Natalie Renier. If you can’t attend the event, the postmark will be available for 30 days by mailing your self-addressed postcard or envelope in another envelope to:
