Christening the New Year

The past year marked the christening of WHOI’s next research vessel, R/V Neil Armstrong, shown here just after it was launched in March. The coming year is expected to see the ship’s completion and its delivery to Woods Hole. Neil Armstrong will replace R/V Knorr, which retired at the end of 2014 after traveling nearly 1.4 million miles in the service of ocean science and engineering.
