Matthew Heintz gives WHOI Trustees and Corporation members a tour of Jason, the remotely operated deep-sea vehicle. Heintz, the program manager for the Jason operations group at WHOI, explained how Jason recently received a major upgrade to increase its payload and capabilities and to streamline its operations. Jason is part of the National Deep Submergence Facility at WHOI, which operates a suite of deep-sea vehicles for oceanographic scientists, including the human-occupied submersible Alvin and the autonomous underwater vehicle Sentry.
