Plueddemann and his team are deploying the first moorings and gliders of the Pioneer Array, a part of the NSF-funded Ocean Observatories Initiative (OOI). The instruments and vehicles provide the foundation of infrastructure that will soon deliver comprehensive, real-time measurements of conditions on the edge of the continental shelf south of Massachusetts to support research and forecasting.
