On December 7, 2007 the Super Tanker M/V Hebei Spirit collided with a crane-carrying barge approximately 10 kilometers off of Taean, South Korea. The Hebei Spirit spilled three medium grade crudes originating from the United Arab Emiriates, Kuwait, and Iran. The spill totaled approximately 18,800 metric tons of product (~1/3 the size of the Exxon Valdez Spill).
