Sunset Dive

Alvin recovery swimmer Jim McGill from the crew of the R/V Atlantis dives from the vehicle at sunset during a 28-day cruise in the Gulf of Mexico. Led by Chief Scientist Samanthat Joye of the University of Georgia, the cruise examined brine seeps and brine pools in the Gulf, then went on to look for possible impacts of the oil spill near the site of the Deepwater Horizon blowout.(Photo by Tom Lanagan, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution)
