Pieces of History

Dan Chamberlain and Margaret DiGiorno, visiting students from Northeastern University working in the lab of WHOI scientist Jeff Donnelly, split a sediment core from Blackmore Pond, a coastal pond in Wareham, Mass. Cores can reveal a record of past hurricanes that sweep material into the pond, forming distinct sediment layers. Donnelly is part of a team of scientists at WHOI and partnering organizations that recently received a grant from the John D. and Catherine T.
