WHOI senior engineering assistant Brian Guest deploys one of six sound sources from the R/V Roger Revelle as part of the Diapycnal and Isopycnal Mixing Experiment in the Southern Ocean (DIMES) in the Antarctic Circumpolar Current during January 2009. Also deployed were 75 RAFOS floats, which used the sound sources for tracking, several specialized floats, and a 80 kg of a chemical tracer which will be tracked for three years as it moves around Antarctica.
