Reconstructing a Tsunami

This simulation, produced by ocean modelers Changsheng Chen and Robert Beardsley using the Finite Volume Community Ocean Model (FVCOM), shows how the tsunami created by sudden uplift of the seafloor on March 11, 2011, spread toward and into the northeast coast of Japan. (Changsheng Chen and Robert Beardsley)
