Manufacturing the Future

Manufacturing the Future

July 20, 2017

WHOI machinist and resident facilitator D.C. Collasius finishes a part he produced using a 3D resin printer in the new DunkWorks rapid protyping facility. DunkWorks was established by a grant from the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative to help marine robotics businesses in the region improve their ability to take ideas from concept to tested devices ready for the ocean. The facility provides access to advanced manufacturing technology in a collaborative space near the know-how of WHOI scientists and engineers. Massachusetts Lt. Governor Karyn Polito will officially open DunkWorks in a ceremony today to open the 3rd Annual Entrepreneur’s Showcase & Leadership Forum.
