Classes on Deck
November 14, 2017Nathaniel Cresswell-Clay, a student in the Semester at WHOI (SAW) program, learns to deploy and recover a CTD, a basic oceanographic instrument used to take water samples and collect data from the surface to seafloor. The hands-on lesson was part of an Elements of Modern Oceanography class aboard the coastal research vessel Tioga. The SAW program gives undergraduates an opportunity to take graduate-level ocean science courses and immerse themselves in a semester-long independent research project, working with scientists and in labs at WHOI.
