Civic Duty

WHOI geologist Rob Evans (left) testifies before the Committee on Resources, Subcommittee on Fisheries and Oceans, of the U.S. House of Representatives in June 2005. Each year, dozens of WHOI scientists and engineers are asked to testify to government officials and serve on national and international science panels. In his visit, Evans covered everything from tsunamis to seamounts, methane hydrates to sea level rise. Also testifying were Dr. James Hollibaugh of the University of Georgia (center), and Dr. Kevin Sellner, director of the Chesapeake Research Consortium (right).
