Around the Table
September 6, 2014Climate change was the talk of the day for U.S. Senator Edward Markey, D-Mass., (head of the table on the left) during a visit to WHOI in July. Markey heard from researchers studying a range of issues, including red tide, sea level rise and the Gulf Stream’s impact on fisheries, and discussed how these issues affect New England residents living along the coast. He also learned about how WHOI technology, such as the Imaging FlowCytobot, makes this research possible. “Woods Hole is the epicenter of research on climate change,” Markey told the Cape Cod Times.”The science developed here will save the planet.” (Photo by Jayne Doucette, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution)
