Air fishing
April 18, 2009The return of the famed osprey pair to the nest on the WHOI Quissett Campus is a sure sign that spring has almost sprung. Ospreys, which dine almost exclusively on live fish, hover over water at altitudes of 50 to 200 feet. When they spot a tasty-looking fish, they dive feet-first into the water to get their prey. Keep up with the progress of the nesting pair online via the WHOI Osprey Cam. (Photo by Jayne Doucette, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution)
