Welcome to LOSOS

Welcome to LOSOS

October 11, 2012

WHOI President and Director Susan Avery joined Willie May, Associate Director for Laboratory Programs and Principal Deputy at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), in the traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Laboratory for Ocean Sensors and Observing Systems (LOSOS). Funded in part by an $8.1 million American Recovery and Reinvestment Act grant through NIST, the new “green” laboratory building will house several groups building and maintaining long-term ocean observing systems and instruments, including the Ocean Observatories Initiative, Martha’s Vineyard Coastal Observatory, Ocean Bottom Seismograph Instrument Pool, and Environmental Sample Processor program.
