Eyes on Geobiology

Eyes on Geobiology

March 9, 2018

MIT-WHOI Joint Program graduate student Julia Middleton took this photo of her sister during a trip to the Grand Canyon, but her eyes were on the canyon walls. Formations like these preserve information from deep in Earth’s history and give scientists insight into how biological and geological processes have changed over time. At the Northeast Geobiology Symposium, hosted at WHOI on April 7 and co-organized by Middleton, students and faculty from schools across New England will discuss the tools and techniques used to decipher the interactions between Earth and the biosphere, like those preserved within the layers of the Grand Canyon.
