An Engine Room Tour

Kent Sheasley (right), captain of the research vessel Neil Armstrong, gives a tour of the ship’s engine room to visiting journalists in the Knight Science Journalism Program at MIT. The program offers nine-month fellowships to an elite group of journalists to increase their understanding of science, technology, engineering, medicine, and the environment. The Knight fellows visit WHOI annually as part of a field trip to the science hub of Woods Hole, Mass. The Armstrong is currently working off the New England coast to deploy instruments for the Ocean Observatories Initiative. (Photo by Erika Fitzpatrick, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution)
