Keeping Track of the Shifting Sands

WHOI research associate Peter Schultz conducts a survey of the shoreline near La Jolla, Calif., using a dolly mounted with a global positioning system receiver. Researchers from WHOI and nine other institutions spent nearly two months collecting data to build better theories and models of how the sands and currents behave in the surf and swash zones oncomplicated coasts.
