Fishing for Carbon

MIT/WHOI graduate student Maya Bhatia sets up an incubation experiment to measure carbon in the meltwaters that stream and pool across the surface of the Greenland ice sheet. Bhatia’s advisors and colleagues begin an expedition today to examine the character and dynamics of those melting glaciers, and what they might carry down into the ocean if the Greenland ice sheet continues to melt at its current rate.
