After dismantling six sleeping tents, a cook tent, and packing instruments and gear, WHOI and University of Washington scientists (who had spent weeks working on Greenland’s ice sheet) waited for their ride back into the town of Ilulissat. Delays caused them to hunker down, dig out the snacks, and relax while nestled in their gear. After a half hour, they spotted something on the horizon. A bird? A plane? No, a huge helicopter!
