Leading the way

Physical oceanographer Amy Bower leads a group of students from the Perkins School for the Blind to the WHOI dock for an onboard tour of the R/V Oceanus. Students from the Watertown, Ma., school visit the WHOI campus annually as part of the OceanInsight program. After touring the research vessel, the students learned about Remote Environmental Monitoring UnitS (REMUS vehicles) developed by the Oceanographic Systems Lab. They also had the opportunity to hold marine critters, such as clams, starfish, and hermit crabs.
