Prepping a glider

John Lund, left, and Ben Hodges work in the glider lab on a Spray glider, an autonomous underwater vehicle, or AUV. The Spray glider—about six and a half feet long with a wingspan of nearly four feet—will be deployed in April in the Grand Banks off the coast of Newfoundland in order to study the Labrador Current.
