Prep time
July 9, 2010Brian Hogue, an engineering assistant with the Sub-Surface Mooring Operations Group, performs a pre-deployment check on a Vector Averaging Current Meter (VACM) in preparation for a September 2010 cruise. The cruise, led by WHOI physical oceanographer Ruth Curry, will focus on abyssal circulation along the Bermuda Rise. Originally designed and built at WHOI in the late 60’s, the VACM is still considered one of the workhorses of deep ocean current measurement.
