Wednesday, December 4, is opening night for Global Viewport to Deep-Sea Vents, a collaborative exhibit created by WHOI and the Ocean Explorium in New Bedford. Visitors will learn about the connection between the global Mid-Ocean Ridge, hydrothermal vents, and some of the organisms that can survive in the harsh conditions of the deep seafloor. The event will showcase videos created for the Science on a Sphere®, a unique display system that projects images on a giant globe. The opening night event features a talk on exploring deep-sea vents presented by WHOI biologist Stace Beaulieu. (Photo by Stace E. Beaulieu, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution)
