A glaciologist, a physical oceanographer, and a geophysical fluid dynamicist walk onto a glacier….! WHOI scientists Sarah Das, Fiamma Straneo, and Claudia Cenedese all study ways the ice and ocean interact in Earth’s northern regions. The three teamed up in 2016 to co-lead the field tour that’s the high point of the Geodynamics Program, WHOI’s annual semester-long program that focuses on interdisciplinary approaches to an Earth science topic. This year the topic was ice-ocean dynamics, and the field tour was to Iceland, to study its changing ice and ocean environment in a warming climate.(Photo by Laura Stevens, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution)
