Summer of Oceanography

This summer, 32 students from 30 colleges and universities traveled to Cape Cod from the around the United States and four other countries to participate in WHOI’s Summer Student Fellowship. The program included weekly lectures, an ethics in science workshop, a cruise on the coastal research vessel Tioga, and mentoring from WHOI researchers on individual student projects. The program began in 1959 to help students learn what it’s like to pursue advanced degrees and become a professional scientist.(Photo by Tom Kleindinst, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution)
