Bring the ocean to your inbox
Electrician Paul Roy, a contractor for WHOI, works via a basket suspended on a crane to adjust a search light mounted on the forward mast of the research vessel Knorr. Roy did the job during the ship's week-long port call in Woods Hole in September. After gathering a team of scientists and resupplying, the ship moved on for two research expeditions near the Azores, in the North Atlantic. One expedition included use of the remotely operated vehicle Jason. (Photo by Tom Kleindinst, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution)
