Define a site
Exercise: When you build a website, you begin by defining your
local site.
- Determine which folder on your PC/Mac will be your root folder.
For this class, the root folder will be WebNN on your desktop,
where NN is your station number in the GTF (01-12).
- In Dreamweaver:
Choose Site--> New Site
Enter the Site Name (eg. Class NN) and designate the local root
folder by clicking the folder icon next to the Local Root Folder
field and then browsing to the folder on your hard drive.
- Make sure that the box labeled "Refresh Local File List
Automatically" is selected.
- In the HTTP Address field, fill in the WHOI url for your website
For this class, use: http://www.whoi.edu/services/training/userNN
where NN is the number of your station in the GTF (01-12).
- Make sure Enable Cache is turned on.
- If a dialog box warns that Dreamweaver is about to create a
cache for this site, click OK.
