Project
on Adhesives for Aquaculture
Interim
report of results follows. A successful adhesive must survive
for about 18 months in seawater. At the time of this report,
life tests have been in progress for a maximum of 3 months.
Most commercial adhesives must be applied at temperatures
sufficiently high to set up. On an experimental basis, a variety
of catalysts could be tested to extend the temperature range
to lower temperatures. Links to the test reports follow.
The
mechanical engineering tests on metal fixtures were performed
at Bristol Community College in Prof. Ucci's class on strength
of materials.
The
life tests on scallop shells were performed at the Massachusetts
Maritime Academy and at the Martha's Vineyard Shellfish Group,
