Talking Science, At Sea

WHOI scientists Scott Wankel and Adam Soule (on screen, right to left) recently participated in a public event at the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) in New York—from a ship in the Gulf of California. Wankel, Soule, and WHOI scientist Anna Michel were members of a WHOI-led expedition funded by the Dalio Explore Fund to study hydrothermal vents using remotely operated vehicles in the 3,800-meter-deep Pescadero Basin. Broadcast engineers at the University of Rhode Island’s Inner Space Center provided the technical support for Wankel and Soule aboard the E/V Nautilus to answer questions from the audience at AMNH’s Science Café in real time.
