Sparring with the ocean

Researchers and crew members struggle to deploy a spar buoy in rough seas during a January 2006 cruise of R/V Atlantis for the CLIMODE project. The buoy measured the exchange of heat and moisture between the atmosphere and the North Atlantic ocean.  Members of the CLIMODE project team are headed to sea again this week (departure February 7) to continue and advance their studies.
