Jason Central

Pilots and scientists controlling the remotely operated vehicle (ROV) Jason work from a darkened control room to monitor Jason’s instruments and video feed. The Jason control room is made up of two modified shipping containers that are mounted together on the host ship. During this cruise, the team worked from the R/V Thomas G. Thompson, operated by the University of Washington, to survey sites in the Pacific Ocean for the Regional Scale Nodes of the Ocean Observatories Initiative.
